Tortoiseshell / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) Cat

Amelia the Cat needs a home

Please contact Thea for more information about this pet.
Amelia is Negaitive for Fiv/FeLV, 1 yr distemper updated and 3 yr rabies completed! She needs to be adopted with her sister Belle! More information below.
2/3- Amelia and her sister belle are still looking for their forever home! They just went in for a yearly appt and got checked out. They are HEALTHY girls! They both got a 1 year distemper and a 3 year rabies vaccination!
Amelia had a recheck for her UTI issues and she is ALL CLEAR! She is not having any type of litter box issues and is using the box every time. She will now run right to the door of the foster room to greet us when coming in to check and feed them. She is making so much progress, it is awesome to see her growing in to a wonderful cat that we knew she could be! She is still going to need a caring, understanding home that is willing to give her the space and time that she needs to warm up to you. Please note: She can't get adopted into a home with dogs. Sadly, this just will not work out for her and her sister.
Other then that, they are EXCELLENT with other cats, older children would be best!
These two girls, just need to find that special forever home!

1/11- Amelia has had a re check completed, we have her on a strict urinary diet food plan but she and her sister seem to be doing a lot better since intake. This has been a lot on both Amelia and Belle and they really just need a home where they can relax and be their own cats. Amelia has a final recheck on monday for her Crystals and UTI issues (this is to ensure we are on the right track)! She will need to be on a urinary diet food for life, but we have her on a general diet (PURINA ONE- URINARY HEALTH). This is an easy food to buy and you can get this anywhere. She does get a small portion of wet food 1x a day.
Amelia does allow us to hold her, she is the more docile one. She and her sister LOVE playing with the lazer pointer, they will chase it all over the place! I think with the right family and the right environment, these two girls would really open up. They have had a hard life the past 2 years.

12/26- Amelia has completed all of her medications for the UTI. She is currently on a Urinary diet and will probably need to be on this long term, however, it is Purina one Urinary and is easily obtainable from a local store. She seems to be doing great, still shy, but she does LOVE the lazer pointer and jumping around when it comes out. She is not much of an active cat when it comes to toys and such, but this could very well change depending on the social aspect that they are going to need after being adopted.
We are looking for someone who is going to take her and her sister Belle. They have been with one another since birth and were adopted back in 2015. They were recently returned to no fault of their own, UTI issues were not taken care of which created issues with peeing on items in their past home. We have since had this issue taken care of since they have come back into foster care. They use the box 100% of the time and I, their foster mom have seen NO ISSUES WITH BOX USE!
I can't stress this enough, please don't let this push you away from adopting these two wonderful cats. They have had a tough life in the beginning and only deserve the best.
I am willing to drive them up to an hour and a half if the right home was to come around!

11/15/17
Amelia was returned to foster care with her sister, belle at no fault of their own. Amelia was having litter box issues and was returned today, but with further inspection, we found out that she has a severe UTI. She is now on antibiotics and getting this taken care of. We are going to be asessing her further and make sure she is using the litter box again and is no longer having issues.
Please dont let this detur you from applying for her and her sister Belle. These two babies need a good home that is going to be caring and kind to them. They deserve the best home... Please note that Amelia would do better in a home that is dog free!
She is good with other cats! She is already fixed, up to date totally on all vaccines and once she is in the clear of this UTI, she can go to her forever home once again.
She does allow you to hold her, but she is going to need time to adjust and some socialization again.
We are accepting applications now! Her and her sister, Belle MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER!

___________________________________________________________________________
10/30/15- Amelia is ready for applications! She has grown so much over the last week in her foster home and is very loving. She likes to be held but is going to need time to warm up to you at first. She isn't super active as she likes to lay around with her sister and enjoys watching the others play. She does like to climb and loves to bat a ball around every now and then. She has a cute apperance. We are now accepting applications for her if you'd like to apply!

INTAKE 10/15-
Amelia is 1 of the 4 kittens saved out of the poconos. She is negative for FIV/FELV, dewormed and up to date on shots. He is eating, drinking and using the litter box!
She should be adopted with one of her litter mates or with another young kitten, as she will need the playmate.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.
